Every year you can look for us in the parade Saturday morning and 2011 was no exception. The Hi Neighbour parade allowed Museum staff to once again be an interactive part of the community. After the parade, we opened our doors for tours, kid's crafts, and a draw. In past years the Museum has had colouring contests and even atlatl demonstrations.
Transcona Time Capsule
In 2011, the Transcona Historical Museum had the pleasure of opening a community Time Capsule that was created in 1992. The shell of the Time Capsule was originally an alternator on a CN caboose. This alternator was given to the community of Transcona to mark the completion of Transcona centre by CN Vice President Frank Campbell. Inside are items donated by men and women who helped make Transcona centre a reality. Originally buried and later put on display in the front vestibule of the Transcona Historical Museum, the Capsule was unsealed and opened in conjunction with this year's Hi Neighbour Festival. Are you interested to see what's inside? Items placed inside the Time Capsule will be put on display as part of the THM's 2012 100th Anniversary Exhibit.
